Ali Sharify (lab member 2010-2011)
Ali was born in Tehran and after his B.Sc travelled to Mashhad (a city situated at northeast of Iran) for his M.Sc. He studied in France before joining the Autoimmune Genetics Laboratory for pre-doctoral research on the role of mast cells in colitis. Ali graduated with distinction in 2011.
Nadia, Queen of the labNadia Jeremiah (lab member 2009-2011)
Nadia received her Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of Madras, India and went on to complete her Masters in Human Genetics from Sri Ramachandra University in India. She joined the lab in 2009 as a research assistant. In 2010 Nadia performed pre-doctoral research based on setting up a platform for human immunological phenotyping, and graduated with Distinction in 2011.
Dr Chong Shen (lab member 2009-2010)Shen at Carnivale, BincheShen started research in immunology during his PhD in 2001 with Professor Jan Ceuppens and Professor Paul Rutgeerts at the University of Leuven. In 2006, Shen followed his research to Cedars-Sinai medical center in UCLA as a postdoc fellow with Professor Targan.
Throughout he has studied the immune response of colitis and the efficacy of various treatments. Early in 2008 he moved back to Leuven and worked in the Autoimmune Genetics Laboratory from 2009 to 2010 as a post-doctoral fellow, working on the immunopathology and genetic basis of colitis.
Short-stay scholars
The laboratory has a vibrant group of short-stay scholars, including Masters rotations students through the University of Leuven, international scholars from the Erasmus program, and work experience volunteers. Our short-stay alumni include Hanne Juchtmans, Karen Put, Lia Margamuljana, Katarzyna Rojek, Marco Bardelli, Umberto Papa, Zuzana Jurasova and Dorien Vanroy.
